Why Invest in a Documentary? When a Brochure Won’t Build Trust
October 24, 2026How Much Does Podcast Production Cost in Vancouver?
Search for podcast production pricing in Vancouver and you get two things: studio rentals by the hour and American pricing guides. Almost nobody local tells you what it costs to get a finished episode out the door.
Here is the honest answer from a company that produces its own show, OverArch, and shows for clients.
Three Ways to Make a Podcast
- Do it yourself: $500 to $3,000 in gear, plus your time. Microphones, a camera or two, and recording software like Riverside. Cheapest on paper. The catch is the edit. A one-hour, multi-camera episode done properly takes most of a day, every single week.
- Rent a studio: $60 to $150 per hour. Vancouver studios average around $100 an hour. You get a treated room, lights and mics. Most rentals do not include editing, so you walk out with raw files and the same edit problem.
- Hire a production company: $495 to $1,250 per episode. You hand over the recording. You get back a finished episode, clips and a thumbnail, ready to publish.

What a Produced Episode Includes
Our You Record, We Produce rate starts at $495 per episode and covers:
- Multi-camera edit, up to 3 angles
- Audio cleanup, levelling and mix
- Colour matching across cameras
- Intro, outro and lower thirds
- Burned-in captions plus a caption file
- A vertical short-form cut for Reels, TikTok and Shorts
- Custom thumbnail, YouTube chapters, title and description
Building a show from scratch, with format development, studio or on-location capture, crew, lighting, broadcast audio and series branding, is quoted per series. Audio-only shows are quoted per series too.
What Drives the Price
- Episode length. A 30-minute episode and a 90-minute episode are different jobs.
- Camera count. More angles means more syncing, colour matching and cutting.
- Short-form cuts. Each vertical clip is its own edit. Five clips cost more than one.
- Graphics. Custom motion graphics and branded templates add design time.
- Publishing. Want us to post it for you? Managed publishing is an add-on.

Is It Worth Paying For?
The real cost of a do-it-yourself podcast is your time. If you are an expert, a founder or a coach, every hour spent syncing cameras is an hour not spent on the work your podcast is supposed to promote. Consistency is what grows a show, and consistency is the first thing to slip when the edit lands on your desk.
